Luke Zimmerman/Tom Bowman

Actor
Playing Tom Bowman on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" is Luke's first role as a series regular, but he's previously appeared on TV in "Daughter of the Streets" and "All for ONE." Also a theater vet, Luke trained at the Performing Arts Studio West in Inglewood, California; he played Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet" and sang in the chorus of "Pippin" -- both in Beverly Hills. When he's not acting, Luke likes to play football, swim, and practice tae kwon do.

Character
Tom is Grace Bowman's older brother. He has Down Syndrome, and Grace is very protective of him -- but he looks out for her, too. He's often suspicious of the guys she brings home, and he usually sides with whichever parent thinks she should stay in and study. He's also very perceptive, so he's pretty good at figuring out what someone's all about when he first meets them (he knew all the tricks up Ricky's sleeve from Day One). When Grace goes out, Tom sometimes goes along; but a guy's gotta have his own life. Now that Tom is starting to long for some close friends of his own, the Bowmans are determined to help him meet the right girl.
