Cast » Adrianna Tate-Duncan

Adrianna Tate-Duncan is played by Jessica Lowndes. A theater student who is Naomi Clark's best friend. She suffers from a serious drug addiction and is under a lot of strain from her mother to further her career. After she overdoses, she receives help for her drug addiction from Navid, who pays for her to go to a renowned rehab center for the best treatment possible. As a result, she starts spending more time with him and they begin a relationship. After discovering one of her ex-boyfriends has relapsed and finding out he was HIV positive, she undergoes a test. She is negative for HIV, however, the results do reveal she is pregnant. The paternity is unknown for some of the season. Navid's virginity rules him out as the father of her unborn child, however, she has stated she had sex with various men during her addiction. She and Navid break up as she reveals that she is pregnant in "Love Me or Leave Me". In "By Accident", we find out that the baby's father is not Hank (whom she had slept with a few times when she was in rehab), but Ty, her co-star in the school play. In "By Accident", she does not take the pregnancy well. Naomi says she thinks she should get an abortion while Kelly thinks she should raise it or give it up for adoption. She drives all night and ends up at a clinic, where they tell her she's too far along to get an abortion. Naomi supports her after Adrianna tells her. Naomi convinces her to tell Ty, and he tells his parents. Ty's parents tell Adrianna that they will pay for the doctor and other things like that. They also said that when she starts to show, they will send her to a retreat in New Mexico, so that nobody finds out. She readily agrees. Later, Ty gives Adrianna a contract which states that Adrianna must keep the whole pregnancy a secret. Her mother has to sign the contract. Unfortunately, Adrianna doesn't want to tell her mother, as she thinks that she will be thrown out. Naomi convinces Adrianna to call Ty, as she thinks that the contract is unfair. Adrianna does, and Ty's mother comes over to Adrianna's house to discuss things with Adrianna's mother. Adrianna's mother, Ty's mother, and Adrianna sit down to talk and Adrianna tells her mother that she is pregnant. Ty's mother gets kicked out of the house because of her arrogance and Adrianna no longer gets her help. Her mother talks to Adrianna and sort of apologizes for her being a bad mother and Adrianna forgives her. Adrianna goes to school and decides to tell everyone her "secret". She gets help from Navid, to announce through the school's video system and tells the whole school that she is pregnant. In "Of Heartbreaks and Hotels", Navid shows up at Adrianna's house and asks her to be his Valentine and she accepts. A few episodes later, Navid proposes and she says yes, although they later break it off but still remain together. Later, at the prom, Navid and Ty scuffle and Adrianna goes into labor. She has a daughter whom she gives up for adoption. The new parents name her Maisie.

In Season 2, Adrianna tries to change her life so she won't be known as 'drama Adrianna'. She and Navid have broken up because of her kissing her ex-boyfriend Teddy. Which leads her back to drugs and jeopardizes her friendship with Naomi who finds the pill on her bed and storms out. After Silver's mom's death, she starts to change her life again, free from drugs. She later shares a lesbian kiss with Gia, whom she confides in while she is in recovery from her addiction. The two date briefly and during that time, Gia encourages her to join a band in order to get over Navid, the Glorious Steinems, which includes Navid's new girlfriend, Lila. Adrianna and Gia break up shortly after. Adrianna tries to get back together with Gia, only to discover that Gia slept with her ex-girlfriend. At the band's first gig with Adrianna as their singer, she catches the attention of Laurel Cooper, classmate Ivy Sullivan's mother. Laurel is a music producer interested in signing Adrianna alone, not the band. She leaves the band and begins her music career. Her new label arranges to have her sing a duet with a popular bilingual singer named Javier and the two start dating even though she still has feelings for Navid. Javier asks Adrianna if she had a boyfriend and she tell him she doesn't, so she and Javier start dating. After her first show, Javier surprises her by inviting her to New York and sing their duet live. She immediately leaves with the singer, unaware that Navid had left a note and charm bracelet for her, and was waiting on the roof. Javier finds the bracelet and gives it to her. Back in L.A. Navid tells her that he was the one who was going to give it to her, and they kiss. Adrianna breaks up with Javier but, as he says to Laurel, "It's not over until I say it is."

In Season 3, Adrianna returns from her summer tour with Javier where he tells her that her music career is over shortly before they get into a car accident that kills him. Adrianna then takes his songbook planning to use the material to reboot her music career. She sings one of his stolen songs at his memorial, a video of which is posted on YouTube. She is later confronted by Javier's uncle and manager, who knows that the song is Javier's. Later when she apologizes and attempts to explain to Javier's uncle, Victor, he than blackmails Adrianna into accepting him as her new manager or he will expose her. Initially Victor is quite controlling with Adrianna critiquing and bullying her and taking her image in a more sexual direction. In one case opting her to wear a revealing dress at a birthday party gig he set up for her and later suggesting she go topless for a magazine photoshoot, to which Adrianna reluctantly agrees, alarming her friends and boyfriend, Navid. It pays off however and Adrianna begins to get media attention and is featured as the cover of the magazine she posed topless for. Over the course of the next few episodes we see that Adrianna has been drawn in by the Hollywood lifestyle, losing touch with her friends and Navid causing him to lose interest in her. The two fight in which he labels her as "self-centered". Adrianna realizes that she holds the power in her the business relationship with Victor, and that wouldn't expose her because she is a viable source for money for him. She asserts herself and begins to treat Victor horribly in retaliation for the way he treated her. In episode 11 of season 3 Adrianna, now a rising star in the music industry, moves into a an expensive lavish mansion. She does so even at the discretion of Victor who advises her that it's a big and expensive commitment and that in six months things could be different, this causes Adrianna now so self-centered and self-assured that she cuts his salary in half. Victor later attempts to apologize and gives her a cashmere blanket as a sorry gift. Adrianna tells him bluntly that she hates it and he should just return it, sneering to his face. Navid and Silver are the only two friends that show up to her housewarming and Navid at this point has drifted away from her and developed feelings for Silver, to which Adrianna is oblivious. The next day at a Christmas party she is hosting in her new home, she opens gifts and openly regards most of them as hideous and mocks that they belong in the "the return pile", she opens a gift from Victor, a picture of him holding Javier's songbook. Alarmed she storms out of her own party and looks for it. Her search comes up empty and panicked she phones Victor, who is seen with what appears to be a replacement for Adrianna. He explains to her that after she cut his pay he had no choice but to sell his story to an Internet blogger. She checks it out for herself and finds the story that labels her as a "grave-robber".

Jessica Lowndes made her theatrical film debut in the horror film "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" and recently wrapped production on the thriller "Altitude," in which she plays a rookie pilot whose weekend getaway flight turns into a horrific battle for survival. The film will be released in 2010.

An aspiring singer-songwriter in real life, Lowndes provides her own vocals for all of the songs she sings on "90210" and she independently produced several of the tracks (including "Haven't Been Drinkin'" and "Stamp Of Love") and licensed them to the show. Her song "Goodbye" was featured prominently in an episode of "Moonlight." During her downtime, Lowndes is working with top music producers across the globe to complete her first album.

Lowndes was discovered in 2005 by the producers of Showtime's anthology series "Masters of Horror." After landing a starring role in Tobe Hooper's apocalyptic film "Dance of the Dead," Lowndes finished high school and moved to Hollywood to improve her talent and pursue her vocation.

Her other television credits include a recurring role on "Greek" and a starring role in Ryan Murphy's "Pretty Handsome" transgender pilot, which has developed a cult-like following despite the fact the show did not go to series.
